Here is the newly announced Kobo Book reader by, you guessed it...Kobo Inc. This bare-bones ebook reader will land in May (Canadians only) for $149 and likely the same price for us sometime this summer. We are having trouble getting over the big Fisher-Price looking button on the front but we can imagine that some people are seriously interested in this thing. Here are some specs for you:
- 1 GB Memory (~1000 books)
- 7.79 Ounces (221 grams)
- Bluetooth capable
- 2 Week Battery (8000 page turns)
- Quilted back? (Cloth, so it feels more like a book)

Amazon has announced today the newest version of their flagship Kindle electronic book readers and it now comes in two distinct flavors. Amazon is going to offer a WiFi only version for the jaw dropping price of $139 as well as a WiFi + 3G enabled Kindle for $189. The newest Kindle is thinner, sleeker and more refined. Amazon has kept the basics of their electronic book reader the same, not giving into pressure from other competitors.

New / Old Versions show reduced size of new Kindle.
Here is the rundown on differences between the last generation model and the newly announced models:
- 50% better contrast than any other e-reader
- New crisper, darker fonts
- 21% smaller body while keeping the same 6" size reading area
- Only 8.5 ounces, 17% lighter.
- Double the Storage – Up to 3,500 Books now
- Built-In Wi-Fi –
- 20% Faster Page Turns
- Enhanced PDF Reader – With dictionary lookup, notes, and highlights
- New WebKit-Based Browser
So it turns out the rumors about the next generation Kindle having a color e-reader screen were false. We see this as a good thing as it shows that Amazon is focusing on their core business of providing an excellent electronic book reading experience without influence from more multimedia-enabled competitors (namely, Apple).
As it looks right now, the cheaper WiFi only version will be available in Graphite and the 3G enabled version will be available in white and graphite colors.

Read more about the newest Kindle today over at Amazon and be sure to pre-order today as these new electronic book readers ship on August 27th with free 2 day shipping. We have a feeling they are going to sell out just like last year, and the year before...

Kindle (Wifi) $139.00
Kindle (Wifi+3G) $189.00

It's finally here everyone...the infamous Alex eBook reader that we though would never see the light of day. This beauty is sporting a regular 6" e-paper display screen up top and a 3.5" color touchscreen below. We would love to play with one, but we can not justify the $399 price tag for a eBook/internet browsing gadget when there are better alternatives around.

Head on over to www.springdesign.com and get yours today?
